Iona Mahima Jones PhD
is an experienced
equality and diversity professional.

She has worked as a probation officer and as a senior probation officer with
specific responsibility for equality. As part of her remit, she set up the Asha
Centre in Worcester which is now a charitable organisatio
n offering support
and education for vulnerable women.


After com
pleting her PhD in Ethnic Relations, Iona worked for 5 years as a diversity manager for BBC English Regions, supporting managers and HR teams to become more confident about a range of diversity matters. She also mentored potential new talent pursuing careers in the BBC. She was a member of the England Diversity Group and the English Regions Disability Advisory Group.

She is co-founder of the Midlands based Diversity Practitioners' Network and is on the board of brap, a national human rights and equality organisation. Iona is also a lay member of the Professional and Ethical Practice Committee at the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. She is a board member of the New Vic Theatre in Stoke on Trent and a trustee of Cobridge Community Centre. Iona has completed a Level 2 course in British Sign Language.

Iona provides short and long term consultancy, training and mentoring on a range of diversity matters.
